![]() One Wirecutter staffer, whose two kids use Quip toothbrushes, said that signing up to receive new brush heads every three months has been a convenient way to remember to replace them in a timely manner. If you want to purchase a replacement head without subscribing, you’ll pay $5 per brush head, plus $10 flat-rate shipping-objectively not a good deal unless you buy in bulk. Quip incentivizes signing up for a “refill plan” to automatically receive a new brush head every three months: The subscription costs $5, ships for free, and includes a new AAA battery. While standard (adult-sized) replacement Quip brush heads are now available in some stores, the only way to obtain replacement heads for the Quip Kids is by ordering from the company’s website. But we think this is a worthwhile trade-off, especially for an introductory toothbrush with powered assist. The Quip Kids brush runs on replaceable batteries, instead of recharging on a base unit. We also like that the Quip Kids comes in simple, solid colors, which we think give the brush wider appeal than those that come only in limited character or cartoon themes. The built-in, two-minute timer helps with encouraging kids to brush for the amount of time recommended by leading dental associations. The Quip Kids toothbrush is also one of the most affordable electric toothbrushes we tested (replacement brush heads are about $5 apiece, if you sign up to receive a new brush head every three months). This is the quietest, lightest, and-importantly-gentlest brush we’ve tested, and it impressed our kid testers, who had various levels of experience with using an electric toothbrush. These make it easier for young kids (or adults) to manipulate the brush and reach small spaces in the back of the mouth. Especially because it sends replacement heads and toothpaste every 3 months. The AAA-battery-operated, vibrating Quip Kids toothbrush has the primary features our experts said a children’s brush needs: a smaller brush head and handle. If you are looking for something that is similar to a manual toothbrush, then this is a great option. In Summary:Īs an electric toothbrush, we are not recommending it to replace a Sonicare or Oral B. Overall, Benjamin Turnwald Dentistry decided it is basically a fancy regular manual toothbrush. On the other end of the toothbrush head, there is a rubber tongue cleaner, but it doesn’t seem to do much in helping scrape the goo from the top of the tongue. Some people enjoy this and others do not. The bristles are a mix of rubber and standard bristles. In general, the electric toothbrushes on the market vibrate the bristle part as well, the Quip DOES NOT. The vibrating motion only seems to happen in the handle, and not so much in the brush head.Īs dental professionals, we love when the toothbrush head also vibrates because it better stimulates and cleans the gum tissue. They are marketing the Quip as an electric toothbrush, and it does vibrate, but at home when brushing your teeth you still need to use mechanical back and forth strokes to properly remove all the plaque and tartar. (Again, from our own personal experience) It also comes in many colors so you can accessorize the toothbrush to your bathroom wall color. ![]() It only costs $25! The subscription is an additional charge (about $10), and arrives every 3 months. It is also battery powered, which means it does not need any charging. ![]() It comes with a very slim holder that is adhesive and can hang on the wall or bathroom mirror and it isn’t very cumberson. What is also nice about the Quip is the design of how it is stored in the bathroom. The toothpaste is also fluoride based, and does not have a powerful mint flavor. Something similar to Amazon’s “subscribe and save.” We love this as a dental professional since it is hard in our busy lives to remember to change our toothbrushes out! The toothbrush heads are delivered to you every 3 months, as well as the toothpaste if you choose this option. What originally drew us to the Quip toothbrush, besides how cool it looked, was its subscription option that will automatically send you toothbrush head replacements and/or toothpaste. Many of our patients have been asking about it, so we thought we would write about it in our blog! Well, the time has come and the newest and hottest electric toothbrush has landed in the stores and it is called Quip. The most stylish toothbrush has arrived! It has been many years since a new electric toothbrush has hit the market. ![]() Published NovemLast updated October 3, 2019
